With Google Maps Premier licensing costing $10000 a year, it was time to create an alternative. Using OpenLayers as the internet mapping framework was the natural solution. OpenLayers offers a robust set of tools to perform basically the same functions as found in the Google Maps Office Floor Plan Mapping Solution. The existing Google Map tiles could be used as well.
