Forestry GIS
Don't let the name fool you. This application is a full featured free GIS editor very reminiscent of ArcView 3.x. Very easy to use and very powerful. I can't believe it's free!
Tatuk GIS Viewer
The TatukGIS Viewer opens most GIS/CAD and raster image file types and most ArcView®, ArcExplorer®, and MapInfo® projects. Besides just opening and viewing files, the Viewer supports an extensive list of features including layer properties control, legend control, thematic mapping, spatial and attribute querying, custom labeling, on map measurements, PDF export and much more.
Google Earth
Google Earth 4.3 beta is here! Download the Google Earth install file directly, without having to go through the Google Installer.
Map Window GIS
MapWindow GIS is an open source GIS (mapping) application and set of programmable mapping components plugins. Terragen is a scenery generator, created with the goal of generating photorealistic landscape images and animations. Very cool and easy to use.

ArcGIS Explorer is ESRI's (world leader in GIS products) free GIS data viewer. This is very similiar to Google Earth with more GIS type functionality.
NASA Worldwind
NASA Wirlwind is a cool Google Earth type application used to visualize the world and the universe along with various data sets like weather data, hurricane animations, and planet overlays. Definitely worth a look.
